Happy Wife Happy Life

Happy wife, happy life. Have you ever felt the same as me? This is the best life philosophy. You will never regret it. Trust me.

In November 2012, a friend of my father-in-law gave me my first marriage advice after the wedding ceremony. This is what he said: “Congratulations mate. Here is some advice for you. Happy wife, happy life.” (With a strong Aussie accent.) This has been the best life advice ever.

My wife and I fell in love in one month. We decided to get married one year later. We had never really fought or argued about anything until we moved back to Australia in 2014. We realised the huge cultural differences and language barrier between us. I should have known that there would be challenges and difficulties in the first place.

My life had ups and downs for a while. I couldn’t believe that happened to me. People always point their finger at others when bad things happen. I was the same. I was complaining and arguing with her all the time. “Sorry, my love, I shouldn’t judge or assume anything. I should always listen and pay more attention to you. I’m so grateful for everything you do for me and our child. I love you so much.

Being patient is the key to a successful business but it is also the key to love and life too. I decided to learn the meaning behind language and understand cultural differences and am still learning. Life changes are sometimes just about the right mindset. For example, she will always complain when you can’t find your stuff by yourself but will still get it for you, then say ‘male vision’. She also complains about my snoring and how I never get up when the babies are crying at night time, but still, she will let you sleep and take care of them by herself when you are tired. Did she ever ask for anything in return? No, because she loves you and just wants you to listen and pay more attention to her.

Marriage isn’t all about sacrifices or give and take. It is also about promises, commitment, and responsibility.

If you don’t want your life to be ups and downs, please take my advice. “Happy wife, happy life.”
